The Port is pleased to announce its new Director of Business Development; Ms. Jennifer States. As the Director of Business Development, Jennifer is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to encourage new business development, stimulating job growth, coordinating business retention, promoting expansion activities within Clallam County and contributing to the Port’s overall goals and strategies. Jennifer begins her career at the Port on June 30th.
Jennifer brings 15 years of experience in energy and environmental issues, with an emphasis on business and economic development. As a Nebraska native with rural roots, her expertise in wind energy emerged from a passion for economic development achieved in harmony with the environment.
Recruited by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) to Wash¬ington State in 2007, Jennifer’s focus grew to include hydropower and emerging wave and tidal energy technologies. She served as Program Manager for Wind and Water Power Technologies, as well as Renewable Energy for National Security.
Jennifer received the Women of Wind Energy’s Rising Star award in 2010, partially due to her efforts implementing the Treasury’s Section 1603 renewable energy grant in lieu of tax credits. This incentive has supported construction of more than 96,000 renewable energy projects.
Jennifer and husband David relocated to Sequim in 2011 so she could work from Battelle’s Marine Science Lab.
