During Tuesday's Port of Port Angeles Commission Meeting, the Port Commission awarded $65,600 in Community Partner Program funding to 19 different Clallam County projects. The winning projects range from Olympic Discovery Trail signage to banners for downtown Port Angeles to a small business competition. The Port received 19 applications for funding from the Community Partner Program and all applicants received funding for 2017.
The Port of Port Angeles’ Community Partner Program offers matching funds of up to $65,000 for use in trade promotion, tourism promotion, public education & awareness and economic development projects for small cities and non-profits in Clallam County.
The Port has typically opened the application period during the first quarter of each calendar year with the expectation that the awarded funds would be spent by the end of the calendar year. In an effort to allow small cities and non-profits the maximum amount of time to use the funding and to afford them the ability to include the funds in their respective budgets, the Port will run the 2018 program at the end of 2017.
2017 is the third year the Port has offered the Community Partner Program. The Port has awarded 45 projects $195,600 in funding since the programs inception.
