After much deliberation and voting, the Port staff and commission have selected the winners of their first ever coloring contest. Artist Jason Williams (age 5) was selected as the winner of the 6 yrs and under division and Thomas Reynolds (age 11) was selected as the winner of the 7 to 12 years division. The Port received many creative submissions and voting was tight, but Jason and Thomas were declared the winners. Jason and Thomas will receive custom t-shirts showcasing their artwork and a feature spot in the slideshow on the Port's website's home page. Additionally, both boys will assist the Port Commission in safely detonating the charge that will topple the K-Ply smokestack on April 8th at 3:30pm.
The Port distributed coloring sheets to kids at the KONP Home Show in late February. "Educating and getting our kids involved is crucial in carrying out the Port's of mission now and in the future. Our coloring contest is just a small way the Port can connect with the children of Clallam County," said Holly Hairell, the Port's HR and PR Manager. "Plus, what kid wouldn't want to say that they knocked over a 175 ft smoke stack!"
