Impounded Boat Sales

Any vessel in Port-, municipal- or county-managed waters which is abandoned, in violation of marina regulations, or is a danger to other vessels, may be impounded by the Port of Port Angeles. If any watercraft owner, master, operator or managing agent fails to pay moorage or other service fees, a boat may be presumed to be abandoned, and may also be impounded by the Port.

Once a boat is impounded it may be removed, sold or otherwise disposed of. Any impounded boat held by the Port may be put up for public auction. Notices regarding any upcoming auctions of impounded vessels are posted on this Web site and also published in the local paper, along with an acceptable minimum bid and where the boat can be viewed prior to sale.

All Port boat sales are in accordance with RCW 53.08 et. Seq. The terms of sale for purchasing a boat at auction are a cashier’s check or cash at the time of sale.
