Port of Port Angeles is proud to employ approximately 47 skilled, knowledgeable individuals who work throughout the organization’s five departments.
The Port staff roster demonstrates years of experience in public service and economic development. Port of Port Angeles staff members are responsible for the day-to-day operations, as well as the continuing development of positive economic relations with the community’s established and new businesses.

Robert McChesney became the Port’s Executive Director in August of 2004. Prior to that, McChesney was the Port of Everett’s director of properties and development for nine years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master of marine affairs degree in port management from the University of Washington in 1989.
At Everett, he was responsible for capital infrastructure analysis and construction project management for commercial and industrial real estate development.
As Executive Director, McChesney directs a staff of 53 and oversees the Port’s marine terminals, marinas, airports, waterfront and industrial park properties. In addition, during his first six months in office, McChesney has worked with the Port Commission and Staff to develop a new strategic plan which focuses on how to increase the Port’s economic growth.
